He taught the Fr. Hardon's Catechism class at St.Cyril & Methodius & I was lucky enough to have him as an instructor. He was great and I wish he was still here to teach! He is missed.

He always had a joke and was always kind. A very good man. I wish I was more like him. He taught how to give to others. "to whom much is given, much is expected" is Luke 12:48:

Great Guy. He was inspirational to me when I was a kid. I spent time with him when he worked for Parks and Recreation. He was my sponsor at my Confirmation. Next to my father, his cousin he was the greatest man I ever knew. I regret that I did not go to see him for many years before his death. I will always remember you, George. Enjoy heaven, laugh a lot.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the DePillo family. Mr. DePillo was my 8th grade teacher at Greenfield Park Elementary in Detroit. He was an encouraging, thoughtful, caring and set a good example for his students. Mr. DePillo was a positive influence into my adulthood. I am grateful for his influence. My thanks to him.

I was sorry that I belatedly ran across George's passing. I first met him when we played baseball in the Northern League. Fortiunately, I connected with him again as a Mott Fellow in Flint, Mi. A wonderful man, he would talk and demonstrate baseball hitting all day long. Always glad to have known a guy like George, who had few peers. Dick Heitholt, Quincy, Il

My condolences to the entire DePillo family. I worked with George for a short time in my first administrative position at Chippewa Valley Schools. We stayed in touch a bit after his retirement and he asked me to be a guest speaker for one of his graduate classes for which I am grateful. A kind and gentle man. He will be missed.

Dear Aunt Florence and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We were very glad to see you and Uncle George earlier this autumn. It was especially nice to have dinner with the two you and to get to talk about when Dad and Uncle George were kids in school and young men and how they worked together learning to play piano--among the many things we talked about that night. These are precious memories and we enjoyed sharing them with both of you. Our love and condolences are yours.

Dear Florence,
I read so many things about George. What a good man he was, good husband and father, grandfather and great grandfather, scholar, teacher, baseball player. What I admire about George the most, though I didn't know him well, even though he is my son-in-law's father and grandfather to my three beautiful granddaughters and great grandfather to my three precious great grandchildren, was his faith in, his belief in, his relationship with our Triune God. Because of that reason alone, my heart and mind is at peace and I am smiling. May God bless you and yours in the days ahead . I know that our great God will fill them up with good things.

Dear Flo and family...George was my Advanced Catechism instructor at St. Cyril & Methodius which started this Fall. I only knew him for a few months but feel so blessed to know such a man who was so knowledgeable in his faith. He shared so many great stories with us and gave us so many insights from experience that cannot be found in any books anywhere. I was in awe of him and am so thankful that our paths crossed because he truly inspired my life. God bless all of you and I will keep George and all of you in my prayers. Sincerely, Annette Rudzewicz

My condolences to the entire family. I knew George many years while he was at both Chippewa Valley and at Warren Con. At one time I was even involved in the care of his father, which is how I met him. Both of these men were memorable in my life and blessed me in many ways. Again my deepest sympathy for your loss. I rejoice in his homecoming.

George was a great leader who wasn't afraid to make difficult choices. As a teacher, no Superintendent supported me like he did. He truly made a difference in my life! When I became an administrator, I had a great role model to lean on; he was fair, supportive and inspirational. He demanded a lot and set a great example for all. The world has lost a truly great educator!

My dear friend George, a scholar and a gentleman. His intensity was a joy to behold. Such fervor, such fun. His enthusiasm was contagious. I'm grateful for the 17 years we spent together in our Theology Discussion Group at Colombiere. He must be so happy now to be on his way to meet the Lord he loved so much. My prayers are with him and with the family. God bless you, George.

Chippewa Valley Schools is saddened today learning the loss of our former Superintendent, George DePillo. George was known to be very personable and often visited buildings and classrooms. He took great pride in using mnemonics to remember the name of each staff member. I specifically remember him visiting my first grade classroom at Clinton Valley Elementary. George made a difference. My heart feels an overwhelmingly "happy Ache" because I know that George has a great reward and will be eternally happy, but I ache that he will no longer be there for us to sit with as he shares all his wisdom and grace. Those were very special moments indeed! How I treasure every one of them...Reading Research Foundation, our nursery school, the time spent in Flint with us before Flo and the Kids moved to Flint... remind me sometime to tell you about the "frozen strawberries" at Howard Johnson's. I congratulate everyone who held him dear, because now we all have a great advocate for all of us from Heaven! Love you all! Carole and Noel
