Allen Carter Obituary

Allen Rae Carter, a longtime Livingston resident, 5th generation of the David Shorthill lineage, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024, surrounded by his best friend and love of his life of fifty years, Betty Jean (Babe), his beloved son Gene, and his brother-in-law Michael and several of his close friends, while in Arizona; where he and Babe had a winter home

It could be said of Allen that he was an authentic throwback to the Old West, where deals were honestly made by a handshake and your word was your bond. He was a Renaissance man, in that his interests were many and varied. An avid history buff and outdoorsman, hunter, and world traveler, with a sincere love of God, family, and country.

His family meant the world to him and he loved nothing better than to share everything he could with them. He loved spending time on his ranch, whether it was riding his trusty sidekick, his mule Wyatt or entertaining his family and many friends at their campground. Allen loved the life that he and Babe shared. Those lucky enough to be in his circle will miss him tremendously.

He is preceded in death by his mother Mildred and father Albert Carter. He leaves behind his wife Babe, his son Gene and daughter-in-law Anita and grandsons Brandt and Riley, his brother Gary (Coralie) Carter and numerous relatives.

Memorials can be directed to Park County 4-H Council, 119 S. 3rd Street, Livingston, MT 59047, and will be used for the horse program and shooting sports.

Or to Living Hope Church 226 South 3rd, Livingston MT, 59047.

A celebration of Allen's life will be held at the Livingston Christian Center, 1400 Mt Baldy Drive; Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 1:00pm.
