Carolina Guevara Obituary

Carolina Luz Garcia Guevara
07/28/1937 - 04/07/2025
Carolina Guevara passed peacefully into paradise on April 7, 2025 at the age of 87. Her lifelong focuses were dedication to family, her deeply held faith, and her commitment to service. She was married for 66 years to Mike Guevara, Jr. and was the beloved mother of Cordelia Guevara (Renee Tanguma), Belinda Guevara (Adriana Garza), Veronica Guevara and Mario Cesar Guevara (Aurora); she was also the Grammy to some of her favorite people on earth, Alexei Guevara and Ricky Guevara.

She was born and raised at Soledad Ranch in Zapata County. Her upbringing was guided by her parents, Josefina B. Garcia (deceased) and Silvestre Garcia (deceased). She was one of nine children. Her brothers and sisters were, and have always been, her innermost circle; the bonds among them are impermeable. Her guiding principles were simple. Live life well, be decent, be kind, be curious, work hard, family first, give more than you get, and have some fun. She left no stone unturned.

She eventually moved to and settled in Laredo, Texas. As her family began to expand, Carolina stepped into a professional career at a young age. She dedicated her craft to Librado Pina, Inc. for 50 years; this is where she molded and sharpened her business acumen that served her well for a lifetime. Carolina forged deep, long-lasting friendships during her tenure there.

Her formative years were immersed in the motherhood of her four children. She provided each of them with a canvas outlined by her wisdom and whimsy. By all accounts, Carolina proved to be a fierce and loving mom. She taught them, nurtured them, loved them, and made them laugh out loud. She kept her children on their toes. There were very few things better than impromptu weekend trips to the ranch. Carolina provided her children with the tools necessary to navigate their own paths.

Carolina was preceded in death by her siblings Salvador Garcia, Oscar Garcia, Estela G. Saenz, Acela Benavidez, Silvestre Garcia, Jr., and Armando Garcia. Carolina will be dearly missed by her siblings Leonel Garcia and Mary Garcia, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends.

We'd like to take a moment to thank Mom's incredible support team. Dr. Angelica Davila for her compassionate care who sat at mom's feet just to talk to her & observe her. Our Tia Mary who made certain that engine fluids never ran low. A very special shoutout to Nato Martínez for jumping into action any and every time mom was in need or want of anything. And to his wife Veronica who doubled down on this journey with us. And lastly, to Laura Villegas, Mom's home health champion who has been at her side for well over 3 years offering Mom such tender & constant care. On behalf of the family, our gratitude cup runneth over.

The family will be receiving guests on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funerals & Cremations, 3502 US Hwy 83; where a Rosary for the Deceased will begin at 7:00 pm.

Funeral Services will continue at Nieto Funerals & Cremations on Saturday, April 12, 2025 doors will open at 8:00 am, with a chapel service being officiated by Father Jerry Gutierrez at 10:30 am and departure from the funeral home at 11:30 am.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot La Soledad Ranch in Zapata County (83 South - 8 miles south of bridge on the right-hand side of highway)

Pallbearers will be Alexei Guevara, Ricky Guevara, Renée Tanguma, Jorge Guerra, Pepe Sáenz, Robert Martínez, Laura Riebesehl, and Marco Garcia.

UNA GRAN SENORA!
I worked for Louis & Pina from 59 to 64. That is where I had the pleasure of meeting this lady. Even though she was only two years older than me; her motherly instinct in reprimanding us is what drew us all to her. She was considered a very valuable employee by Mr. Louis and Mr. Pina. It was obvious by the respect they had for her.
Mike lost a great partner whom he enjoyed life with throughout their lifetime. I am sure that lord already had the gates of heaven open to welcome Mrs. Carolina Guevara in his house.
My deepest condolences to Mike, children and and close family.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE LADY
