IRMA V. VELAZQUEZ

Mrs. Irma V. Velazquez, 96, was called to her heavenly home in the hope of the resurrection on Sunday, November 2, 2025, having passed peacefully in the presence of her beloved family. Irma was born on July 20, 1929, in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Silvestre and Inocencia Villarreal. A lifelong Laredoan, Irma was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, whose memory will be carried throughout her generations. May she rest in peace and her memory forever be a blessing.
Irma developed a passion for sewing in her youth and was an avid seamstress all of her life. She volunteered with many churches, schools, and various other organizations where she designed and sewed apparel for service groups, clubs, choirs, and dancers. Another of Irma's passions was volunteering countless hours for decades to hospital auxiliaries as well. Charisma and a heart for people were the best legacies she left her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco J. Velazquez, who was her only love and was married to for fifty-eight years; parents: Silvestre and Inocencia Villarreal; brother, Cesar Silvestre Villarreal; sons-in-law: Javier Peña, Gerald Andrews, Michael Hall, Allen Walker, and her beloved furbaby and best friend, Pinky.
Surviving her are her children: Sarita Velazquez Hall, Alicia Velazquez Walker, Gloria Velazquez Andrews, Francisco J. (Deborah Dillard) Velazquez, and Irma Velazquez Peña; grandchildren: Foster V. Hall, Madelene E. Hall, Evan A. Walker, Gabriella A. (Nicholas) Walker Shadick, Melissa (Elias J.) Andrews Perez, Cynthia M. Andrews, Francisco J. "Panchito" Velazquez, Rebecca L. (Ryan) Velazquez McHugh, Cristina (Mark) Peña Walls, Nicolas Peña, Alex Peña; great-grandchildren: Blair Eleanor Shadick, John Knox McHugh, Beau Daniel McHugh, Collins Noel McHugh, Ana Bella Walls, Nico Walls, her cherished companion and friend, Princess, as well as a great number of extended relatives and many friends made along the way.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:40 AM at Hillside Funerals & Cremations.
Procession will depart the funeral chapel at 9:40 AM to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at , by Rev. Father Wojciech Przystasz.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow the celebration of the Mass at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Nicolas J. Peña, Alexis R. Peña, Mark Walls, Elias J. Perez, Foster V. Hall, Evan A. Walker, Nicholas F. Shadick, Nico S. Walls.
She will be missed and loved fiercely and independently forever.
