Paul Leyendecker Obituary

Paul Anthony Leyendecker
05/05/1955 - 05/08/2025
It is with immense respect and adoration that we honor the life of Paul Anthony Leyendecker, who passed peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in the presence of his loving wife and daughters. Paul was born on May 5, 1955, in Laredo, Texas, to the late Richard Alfred and Blanche Flores Leyendecker. As a young man, he enjoyed hunting at the ranch with his brothers and playing football for the Nixon Mustangs. Upon graduating from Nixon High School in 1973, he attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. In 1979, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and became a licensed engineer.
He spent almost 20 years working as a project manager for TXU Electric Company in Irving, Texas. It was there that he met Lori Ann Leyendecker, his wife of 38 years. The two were wed at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Laredo, Texas, on June 20, 1986. Together, they shared a life filled with laughter and devotion to raising their two daughters.
Paul found joy in spending time with his family at the beach, ranch, and even in their own backyard. It was there that he would find happiness in grilling, tending to the yard, and sitting in the shade, enjoying the peace and quiet that only nature can provide. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing tennis, and taking care of his family dogs, Charlie and Olie.
In 1999, Paul relocated his family to Laredo, Texas, so that he could work alongside his brother (Gary A. Leyendecker) and father at Leyendecker Construction Incorporated (LCI). As Executive Officer, Paul was involved in all facets of the company, including engineering, construction, planning, scheduling, and day-to-day oversight of operations. He worked with all of LCI's major clients, including UISD, LISD, Laredo College, the City of Laredo, TAMIU, Texas Community Bank, Lewis Energy, and Cotulla ISD. Throughout his career, Paul played an instrumental role in the development of more than 40 LISD and UISD campuses. Notable among these projects are the new United High School and additions to his alma mater, Nixon High School. His portfolio also included landmark civic developments such as the UISD SAC Facility, Texas Community Bank's main building, and the Laredo City Bridge of the Americas Complex. In 2008, Paul founded Leyensco, a consulting firm that specialized in construction management and engineering expertise. Ultimately, his passion for his work led to a concrete legacy forever impacting the Laredo community.
Paul took great pride and found meaning in his community service work. He was a member of the Laredo Daybreak Rotary Club and a recipient of the Paul Harris Award, presented to him for his contributions to the organization. Additionally, he served as an Advisory Member of the United Day School Board of Directors, and his philanthropic endeavors extended to national organizations, including The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
Paul will long be remembered for his service to enriching the lives of others. He was the epitome of love, hard work, and humility.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Ann Leyendecker; daughters, Katie Nicole (Max) Leyendecker and Dr. Sarah Ann Leyendecker; brothers, Richard A. (Paula) Leyendecker, Gary A. (Mary Lamar) Leyendecker, and Mark A. (Veronica) Leyendecker; niece Jennifer Leyendecker.
Also surviving him are many relatives and family friends, including the staff of Leyendecker Construction, whom the family would like to thank for their continued support during this time.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday evening, May 15, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, May 16, 2025, departing at 11 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Gary A. Leyendecker, Mark A. Leyendecker, Richard A. Leyendecker Jr., Spencer Morgan, Rourke Melendez, Renee Cortes Jr., Angel Garcia, and Jerry Resendez.
