It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Romel G. Salinas, Sr., who entered eternal rest on September 29, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on February 21, 1951, Romel was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose impact on the lives of those around him will be cherished forever.

Romel proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, exemplifying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career in the automotive industry, selling cars across various dealerships for more than a decade. His enduring passion for service led him to join the U.S. Border Patrol, and subsequently, he became an agent with Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Romel retired in 2007 after more than 30 years of combined service, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to public safety and community support.

In addition to his professional achievements, Romel was known for his profound love of family and friends. He reveled in the simple pleasures of life-whether it was spending time fishing, cultivating his garden, or sharing laughter with those he cared for. His generous spirit and readiness to lend a helping hand made him a beloved figure among his peers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Bustos and Estella Mendiola; siblings, Glafiro Salinas and Maricela Abrego.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years of marriage, Susana Salinas; children, Robert (Bella) Salinas, Stephanie (Marco) Castilleja, Romel G. (Gabriela) Salinas, Jr.; grandchildren, Bobby Salinas, Jr., Krishna Salinas, Andrea Salinas, Oswaldo Salinas, Bella-Rayne Salinas, Marc Castilleja, Robert (Samantha) Castilleja, Manuel Perez, Jr., Kaylee Castilleja, Alejandra Cortez, Briana Cortez, Romel G. Salinas III, Madison Renee Salinas; great-grandchildren, Abigail Castilleja, Christopher Elizondo; siblings, Jesus Bustos, Hugo Bustos and George Bustos; among other loving relatives and many friends.
