Victoria Gutierrez Obituary

Victoria Gutierrez, also known as "Mom", was born December 24, 1946 to father Augstin Maya and mother Guillermina Aragon in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. She was a hardworking stay at home mother who dedicated her life to her family. She lived a life of hardships being the oldest of a group of 6 siblings and helping to take care of them at an early age. She graduated high school and had 2 years of college before briefly working as a secretary until she met her husband, Pedro Gutierrez, and settling down as a housewife to focus on her family. She earned the nickname "Mom" due to taking care of so many people both children and adults but also her attitude of being a very caring and motherly. She was very friendly, loved by all, and she always had a warm welcoming presence or "aura" as a friend once told her that even babies that first met her smiled and giggled at the sight of her. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, listening to music, and watching movies.

She would always make everyone feel like part of the family. She was a very caring and generous person who would help out anyone who she saw in need. The later part of her life was spent overcoming multiple grim diagnoses and conditions and lived for many years after. Even during her final months, she was overcoming Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Hyperthyroidism, bad knees, failing kidneys, and liver cirrhosis. Perhaps her biggest struggle was the loss of her husband, Pedro Gutierrez, who passed away almost 5 months prior. She would always talk fondly about him, cry for him, and is now currently with him. She continued fighting to be able to walk, work around her house, and move around on her own. She would also try to help out her family, friends, and others any way she could. This shows her character of always being a hardworking and caring mother up till her final days.

She passed away on Friday November 8, 2024 at 12:33pm; peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and caretaker. Her spirit and memory will be carried on by her family, friends, and all those who knew her.

Her family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to her caretaker: San Juanita Uvaldo or "Juanita", for doing an excellent job taking care of her and encouraging her to eat, walk, and exercise more. She helped to push her to keep living for a little longer and was there for her up to her final moments. She was also the caretaker of Victoria's husband and made it easier to cope with his passing.

Her family would also like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Fredo Rodriguez MD. He was very compassionate and sympathetic with her and the family. He was on call in case she needed any medical assistance.
