Darold Dean Hieb

1935 - 2016

Darold Dean Hieb, of Galt, passed away on November 27, 2016, at the age of 81. Mr. Hieb was born in Lodi, California on May 25, 1935, to Gideon William and Christine Marie (Fuchs-Fox) Hieb. He attended local school and graduated from Lodi High School. He enjoyed water skiing on Lodi Lake and working on cars. He was a diligent worker, and worked at Tri Valley Growers for 43 years until he retired in 1997. He was a member of Waterloo Gun and Bocci Club, NRA, and Sacramento Shooting Club. He loved trap shooting with his brothers, and he won several competitions, holding many titles. His love of the outdoors was unmatched: hunting, fishing, camping with his family, and watching NASCAR, were among his favorite activities. He also loved his dogs. He was a kind, gentle, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Dickhoff; brother, Bob Hieb; son, Doug Hieb (Izzy); daughters, Rhonda Gokey (Curtis), Lisa Esteves (Gus), Lynnette Brewer (David), and Shiree Hieb (Steve); grandchildren, Julie Mustin, Jennifer Huiras, Diana Kolar, Kristina Hieb, Sarah Kynoch, Linda Fournier, Christopher Hieb, Marissa Brewer, Courtney Kniss, Antonia Maimone, and Bailey Maimone; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by father, Gideon Hieb; mother, Marie Gwin, and brother, Leland Hieb.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 1, at 1:30 p.m. with committal to follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.
