Eric Dickerson Obituary

Eric Lee Dickerson completed his life on Earth early on the morning of March 8, 2015 after several months of battling cancer and ensuing complications. Eric was born on May 22, 1957 in Tracy, Ca. The family moved to Lodi in 1965 and Eric attended schools here. He enjoyed working with concrete, brick, and was a good cement finisher. He was especially proud of the patios he constructed. Eric loved outdoor activities including camping, fishing, kneeboarding, and windsurfing. He also enjoyed working on cars. He was known to give unselfish service to many friends and family whenever there was a need for help. Eric had a great sense of humor and would always tell interesting and funny "fish stories", some with pictures to prove it. Even during his illness he constantly expressed his gratitude to all who cared for him with his Elvis impersonation, "Thank you, thank you very much!" Eric was always the life of the party at family gatherings and will be remembered and missed by all.
Eric is survived by his parents, Loren Bruce and Letha Joyce (Klander) Dickerson, brother David Loren Dickerson, sister Linda Joyce (Max) Huffman of Lodi, daughter Sarah Jane (Eric) Colbert, grandchildren Alyssa Colbert and Eric Kadin Colbert of Muskogee, Oklahoma, companion Diane Moore of Lodi, nieces Linsey Huffman, Heidi Huffman of Lodi, and Jennifer Haas of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin in Eric's name.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 2-8pm at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi, Ca 95240, with Funeral Services at 1pm on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Evergreen Chapel, Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi. To the Dickerson family I am deeply saddened at hearing of Eric's passing. I knew him since we were in high school and ran into each other after close to 35 years later of seeing one another. I was amazed he remembered me. He helped anyone in need and was the first to volunteer when a friend needed help; whether it was fixing a car, a fence, or a leaky faucet. He will be missed by those that knew him. Rest Well Eric; you're in my prayers.

Oh Eric, I am beside myself. To Eric's girlfriend and family, I am so sorry for the loss of this good man. Eric had always been the type of guy who was there for people. Those of us who knew him, were grateful that we did. Eric always had a smile and some way to make you feel better when you were upset, or feeling down. Eric was handy to have around, he knew a lot of things about fixing stuff, and could find a way to repair things that broke. Eric was a happy man over all, always glad to see a friend pop by. He kept his doors open to those who knew him, a forgiving soul, with a happy smile. May his families grief blow light, it is how he would have wanted it. He is and will always be missed by many. This is a difficult time for all who loved him. May you rest in peace dear friend.
