George (Skip) Richards Obituary

Born in Walsenburg, Colorado, to Nell and George Richards and was the oldest of the four children, brother David (deceased) sister Judy (deceased) and Nancy.
George (Skip) moved to Lodi in 1938 where he attended grade school at Garfield, Emerson, Needham, graduating Lodi Union High School in 1949.
Enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 and served on the USS Mount Baker, AE4 Ammunition/Transporter as a Communication Electrician during the Korean War.
Married Patricia Bailey in 1960 and built there family home in Herald, Ca where he raised his 2 sons David (Sheri) and Steven (Marlys) who fulfilled his life with (8) Grandchildren, Kalah, Jordan, Ryan, Stephen, Joshua, Elisha, Micah, Jorianne and (12) Great Grandchildren, Alexis, Savanah, Isabella, Eli, Noah, Scarlett, Evalyn, Liam, Kai, Jack, Finlay, and Sebastian.
George was a Journeyman Electrician, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 340 in which he retired from in 1993. Was able to take several cruises, traveled in his RV spending many summers in the Western United States including Alaska and Canada.
Enjoyed building his 1932 Ford Roadster (hot rod), hunting in the Sierra Mountains and making his own fishing lures for the wonderful California lakes.
The family wants to thank the outstanding support from South Kaiser Permanente, Home Health, and Hospice.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 12:00PM - 1:00PM at Lodi Memorial Cemetery 5750 E. Pine St. Lodi, CA 95240.
A celebration of his life will be at the Richards home with a luncheon (address will be provided).
