Herbert Frasch Obituary

Herbert Frasch, 84, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013. He was born on October 26, 1928 to Emil and Emma Frasch. He lived in Thornton until he was 13 years old when the family moved to Lodi to start the family dairy.
Herb attended Harmony Grove and Tokay Colony elementary schools and graduated from Lodi Union High. He was active in the Lodi FFA and was president 1945-46, his senior year. He met his future wife, Joan Reynolds at a 4-H leadership conference. Together, they were community leaders of the Harmony Grove 4-H for 23 years.
He served in the Korean Conflict and he and Joan were married shortly after he returned from Korea. They were married for 48 years and Joan preceded him in death in 2001.
Herb ran the Frasch & Son Dairy for over 50 years. He loved to fish for trout in Lake Camanche and bass in the Delta. He enjoyed watching the SF 49ers and Golden State Warriors on TV and was an ardent fan of the SF Giants since he was 8 years old. He was so elated when they won the World Series in 2010 and 2012. Herb loved working in his large garden and giving produce away to his family and friends.
Herb is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Jeff Ropes of Fallbrook, CA, his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy Frasch of Riverside, CA, and his daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Joe Valente of Lodi. Also survived by his adored grandchildren, Ronda (Dave) Nixon, Nina (Jeremy) Weiss, Amy (Tyler) Blagg, Gary Valente, Noah Frasch, Ruth Frasch and great-grandsons, Nathan and Henry Blagg.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00am in the chapel of the Donahue Funeral Home with committal at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm at the Donahue Funeral Home.

I just received news of your loss. I am at a loss for words. I remember so many pleasant visits when my dad (Bud James) would take me to the dairy with him. Over the years I had wanted to visit once again and it saddens me greatly that I have waited too long. What is really sad is that I live just a short distance away. He will definitely be missed. Herbert was my first Boss. Worked for him after school and All summer for four years while in HIgh School. I will miss seeing him working in the garden. Janis, Larry and Claudia i am sorry for your loss.

I was SO SO sad to hear the news of Grandpa Herb. He was not only a friend to many but a Grandpa to many kids. Mine looked forward to his pumpkins every year!! We would drive by pretty much everyday and they would yell "there's grandpa Herb watering his flowers and listening to the Giants game" So many memories of playing on the dairy and doing things we shouldn't have been and he would just smile and keep working:) I'm here for you guys always<3 Rest in Peace Grandpa Herb. We will miss you dearly and think of you the entire baseball season!! xoxo
