It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Hipsher Sr. who passed unexpectedly on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the age of 77. Howard is survived by two sons, Howard Jr of Lodi & Jarrod of Morada, as well as his daughter Portia of Modesto, brother Larry, sister Judy, 8 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Taft and Anna Hipsher. Howard was born June 21,1944 in Berkeley, California. Shortly thereafter, he moved to San Joaquin county where he graduated from Franklin High School in 1963. After serving 1 term in the U.S Army, He came home to the San Joaquin county area where he resided until his death.
In his younger years, Howard raced motorcycles and was actually quite good at it. He enjoyed traveling, capturing memories through pictures, listening to country music, and making money. Howard was a jack of all trades. Though he was not a great farmer, he tried his hand at ostrich farming, and even took a stab at our region's most plentiful fruit, growing grapes. During his lifetime he owned a carpet store, a greeting card store, and even a sawmill. Howard stayed true to his talent for hustling and sense of humor until he was called home to God.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11am on Thursday September 30, 2021 at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N California St, Stockton, CA 95202. Reception to follow at the home of Jarrod Hipsher. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Howard's life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a plant instead as Howard was not a flower kind of guy and would appreciate us tending to a living thing in his memory.

I consider Howard one of my closets friends. I've known him for over 50 years. I highly valued his friendship and his family. He always had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help others in friendship and business dealings. We will miss him. He will not be forgotten.
