Leonda Cook Obituary

Leonda Adamson Cook passed away on August 5, 2021, due to medical conditions complicated by Covid. She died just two days before her 62nd birthday. She was born in Wishek, North Dakota, on August 7, 1959. Her family moved from North Dakota to Lodi, CA, when she was two-years old. She graduated from Lodi High School and California State University, Sacramento. She was married to the love of her life, Scott Cook, for 16 years.
Leonda was involved in many ministries and outreach connected to Grace Point Church, formerly known as Temple Baptist Church. She was a Junior High and High School sponsor. She loved working with the youth – and she kept in touch with them after they graduated! She attended the weddings and baby showers of some of the girls in her Junior High Class. Those were some of her fondest memories from her time working with youth. She also sang in the church choir. During the 90s, Leonda sang in a country band, The Country Gentlemen, with her father, Leon Adamson, and other great musicians from Temple Baptist Church. In prior years, she served on several community boards including Big Brothers and Big Sisters of San Joaquin County. She was also a Big Sister. She loved to help family, neighbors, and friends – it was her calling. Throughout the years she touched many lives and without a doubt it can be said, all who knew "Leo" – loved Leo.
Leonda was an accountant and licensed CPA. For many years she worked for accounting firms in Stockton. She changed her career focus to agricultural accounting in the 90s. She worked for Vino Farms in Lodi for many years – grapes!  She then worked for Westwind Farms in Lodi – cherries! She enjoyed agriculture accounting and working for small family-owned businesses.
Leonda is survived by her husband, Scott Cook; her mother, Dianna Adamson of Lodi, CA; and her sister, Doreen Logan (Steve) of Queen Creek, AZ. She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Adamson. She is survived by many cousins, aunts, and uncles, all of whom she loved – and they loved her! One of her greatest joys was traveling to Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota – and parts beyond, simply to visit family and friends.
As much as many, many people will miss having her in their lives, we know that she is now happily in the presence of Jesus, her Savior, whom she so deeply loved and served faithfully every day.
The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 7th at Grace Point Church.

Dear Dianne, Doreen,Scottie and family,

I will always treasure the sweet memories of Leonda. We sang together in choir for years and later in an ensemble. I loved her sense of humor and will always remember her shy smile...
Leonda was a blessing to all who knew her.

Our condolences to the Adamson and Cook families. Leonda worked with me at Croce and Company. She was my first friend when I moved to Lodi and we have remained friends ever since. She was a wonderful woman that my husband Brad and I loved. We will truly miss her.
