Michael 'Mike' Mitchell
1947 - 2021

Lodi, CA
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Stuart Mitchell who was called to be with God unexpectedly on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the age of 74.
Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy; children, Darlene, Billy, Regina, Tracy and Cris; brother, Randy; two sisters, Cheryl and Katie; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents BJ & Marie, along with his daughter Michelle.
Mike was born in Willows, CA on March 15, 1947. After graduating from Lodi High School in 1965, he was drafted by the New York Mets baseball organization and played in the minor league for five years. One of his notable accomplishments was being inducted into the Lodi Sports Hall of Fame. After his final at bat Mike went to work at Interlake Steel, where he climbed his way up to supervisor and remained for many years until the company closed its California location. Like many dads, he enjoyed camping, watching his 49ers football games, traveling, and most of all, spending time with family. Mike's love for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and wife showed no bounds.
Even in retirement, Mike still had many jobs - those came without a paycheck, but were fruitful in hugs and gratitude. He was the family's chauffeur, counselor, coach, cheerleader, math teacher, and most importantly, our book of knowledge. His sudden departure from this world has left us with an immense void; he still had a wealth of history to share and so many stories to pass down to the younger generations.
A funeral service is scheduled for November 10, 2021 at Cherokee Memorial Park, Evergreen Chapel, 14165 N Beckman Road, Lodi. Visitation is from noon to 1 PM with the service following at 1 PM. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, our family encourages you to take your children, grandchildren or great grandchildren out to lunch and tell them a story that starts with "When I was your age…"
