RAYNETTE STEELE Obituary

Raynette Rose Steele, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Nov 02, 2025, just shy of her 83rd birthday. She was also know as Aunt Pinky or Pinky to all who knew and loved her. Born Nov 04, 1942 in French Camp, CA to Francis and Lucille Steele. Raynette was one of seven children. She grew up on a dairy farm in Galt, California, attended Oak View Elementary, and graduated from Galt High School. She attended San Jose Bible College, was a supervisor at the Bank of Alex Brown in Galt, and later worked as a teacher's aide for Galt Christian School. Raynette worked and helped in many occupations, she enjoyed most driving the school bus, transporting high school students for the Galt Joint Unified School District - Transportation Dept. where she retired after many years. After retirement, you'd find her housesitting, dog sitting, or traveling with her sister driving across the United States multiple times.
Raynette was a member of Galt Bible Church; she enjoyed music and singing in the choir, providing special music, and volunteered in the Awana Club ministry. She also was a member of the Galt Area Historical Society, was a curator at the Rae House Museum, and had fun volunteering as an usher for Hutchins Street Square.
Raynette was an outdoors person and enjoyed water skiing, riding horseback, camping, hiking, gardening, and was one good sharpshooter. She enjoyed sports, played softball, and was even on a bowling league where she achieved a last place trophy. She took pleasure in playing the piano, playing cards and board games, was creative, loved an adventure and often took nieces and nephews along with her. She loved spending time with family and friends, entertaining and taking part in social gatherings, traveling, and caring for animals and others. She was kind and compassionate, as well as dependable and generous; she wasn't one to complain, and if anyone needed something, she was right there to help. She was witty, playful, and had a wonderful sense of humor. What meant most to Raynette, was that people knew her joy came from the Lord, and would often say, "I hope they know Jesus."
Raynette is survived by her sisters, Johanna Sweatt (Dan) of Layton, UT and Constance (Nolan) Spence of Galt, CA. and brother Dale (Diana) Steele of Malabar, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents Francis and Lucille Steele, her brother Edwin Steele (Alice), sisters Lona Chandler (Frank) and Janet Bentz (Kenny). There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Galt Bible Church, 801 Church Street

I have so many great memories of Raynette. She was my mom´s very best friend from before I was born. I spent many summers on the farm with her and Grandma Lou. Her sense of humor was the best. We miss you

We shared a passion for AWANA, "Sparks for Jesus". Pinky lit up every room she walked into. Her quick wit, sense of humor and contagious laughter will be deeply missed.

Aunt Pinky... love you so very much. So many fond memories and very very funny memories! "hi my name´s Ted!" Your laughter, pranks, jokes, and joy will never be forgotten!

She cheated at cards, enjoyed a great craft and a gag gift. Her smile lit up a room and her joy was contagious. She was always up for a great adventure and loved to sing. She played the piano by ear, relished a new recipe, fast cars and beautiful birds. Above all she adored her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For Him she lived, with Him she lives forever; singing His glories in perfect pitch. We love you, Pinky!
