My deepest condolences to your family. I first met Bob while teaching at Grace Davis High School in Modesto and was lucky to know such an interesting and witty person. Later I would run into him in Lodi where he later lived and was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.

So sorry for your loss. Mr. Raingruber was a dear teacher of mathematics to me at Davis High circa 1978. He seemed always committed to teaching, but was cheerful and fun. He was one of a few teachers who spurred me on to get bachelors and masters degrees in mathematics, and then to pursue a completely delightful career applying mathematics to solving problems in the industry of making medicines. I hope to see him again beyond this valley of tears, God willing.

My sons were fortunate to have been privately tutored by Robert for many years. They got a rich and thorough education in all things math that was well rounded with just as rich and thorough an education in all things words, puns and philosophy. We will be forever grateful for the gift of Robert in our lives.

My condolences to his family for the loss of a wonderful man. Bob had such a brilliant mind and his knowledge seemed endless. What a punster whose wit was continually enjoyed by his colleagues. May his memories be a comfort.
