My condolences to Val and the girls who he cherished the most in the world. I had my most memorable times working with Steve from YC days to our last days working together in 2014. Steve had a gift to make others at ease around him even during the stressful times we endured together turning keys. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of his passing as we spoke recently just talking about work and family stuff like it was just another day. I appreciated his loyalty and dedication to his job and family. I will miss him dearly.

I wish to express my condolences to Steve’s family. I worked with Steve at Chad. The man consistently gave the best eight hours of work everyday he suited up and strapped on his utility belt. His contributions made the department a safer place to work. He left his mark and will be remembered. I’d like to thank his family for allowing so many others to benefit from his service! Rest peacefully!

My deepest condolences to the Islas family. Steve and I were Youth Counselors at CHAD and he was my Lieutenant at transportation. He was always a professional, he was a leader, a friend, and a mentor. I respected him as a staff, but more importantly I respected him as a man.

May God bless Steve and give him eternal rest. God bless his family during this sorrowful time. My condolences go out to his entire family.
Steve was always a professional figure in our profession. With thoughtful mannerism and cheerful character Steve made the job easier for those around him. As a supervisor, Steve was easy to work under. A good sense of humor and always smiling. He had good interaction skills that made it easy to do the duties at hand. We had many talks of family and life during our shifts. He talked about his up bringing and how things were when he was young. I always remember him saying that loved butter and tortillas. It just stuck with me?
I would see Steve at car shows as he displayed his convertible Corvette. He really enjoyed that ride and I was happy to see him brimming with content as he showed off one of his pride and joys.
Steve will be missed but his time with us on the toughest beat in the state will never be forgotten. People like Steve are reasons that make life enjoyable and happy. We need more like him in our lives. God bless

I worked with Steve at Grossmans lumber when we were both youngsters. He was a great guy back then. I would see him once in a while and he still had that great smile. We lost a good one when he left us. RIP friend.

Although Steve would not consider us close pals, I was around him enough to realize what a happy and upbeat person he was. His smile and laugh are both traits that stand out which put those around him at ease. Steve, we will miss you and my condolences to the family.
