Susan Liebich Obituary

Susan Emily Rauser Liebich peacefully passed away at home on February 23, 2025, at the age of 82 after a brave journey with health issues. Susan was born on October 21, 1942 to Richard John Rauser and Priscilla Emily Platt in Jackson, Michigan, the oldest of three children.
Her family moved to Detroit when she was a toddler before settling in Elkhart, Indiana when she was nine-years-old. Some of her favorite memories were on the Saint Joe River with the Jumpin Joes water ski club. An academic, Sue excelled in school and graduated from high school at the top of her class. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.
Sue moved 15 times before Lodi became home in 1980. She enjoyed her Lodi home, decorating and updating it, and gardening but not so much cooking. A dedicated mathematics teacher at Lodi High from 1984 – 2005, she was stickler for showing work and only doing math in pencil. Sue loved her students and keeping up with their extra-curricular activities, especially sports.
Her children were her most important priority and she was their biggest supporter. When the family first moved to Lodi, tennis at Sunwest led to lifelong friendships. Later she walked the streets of Lodi with her girlfriends and, in retirement, Sue was an avid bridge player and there wasn't a Sudoku puzzle she couldn't solve. All along the way, trips to the casino were enjoyed, as was shopping and time at the beach. Sue's quick wit and sense of humor were enjoyed by those who knew her, even earning her the nickname Sassy Sue.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother, David, Susan is survived by her devoted and loving children Andrew and Alison (Colarossi), son-in-law Bob, beloved granddaughter Cece, sister Diana McDowell (Elkhart, Ind.) and nieces Shawn Hermon and Shannon May.
A memorial service will be held on March 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Adventist Health Lodi Memorial Adult Day Services (125 S. Hutchins Street, Suite A, Lodi, CA 95240) or Hospice of San Joaquin.

My Dear Drew & Alison,

I´m so sorry for your loss... I´m sending love, peace and comfort in this difficult time... Please know that both of you are in my thoughts.

I had the chance of knowing and taking care of Sue. I remember her as very smart woman, very proud of her grand daughter CeCe and loves to laugh. Enjoys spending time in her garden, trimming dried leaves from her flower garden with her tiny trimmer. She always enjoy a glass of lemonade with cubed ice:) Rest in Peace Sue...

Love,
Charina C.

Hi Drew and Alison,

Sad to hear about your mom and hope you will find peace in your hearts as you remember happier times with her.
We had some fun get togethers when we were neighbors, having TGIF gatherings and holiday cookie exchanges.

Thinking of you,
Kathy Bishop
