Dana Edwards Obituary

Dana Ray Edwards, 70, of Rockbridge, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024. Dana was born May 31, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Albert and Donna Edwards. He was married to Cynthia (Carpenter) Edwards, who survives.

Dana was a man large in stature with an even bigger heart. He worked for many years in the family custom butcher shop. He finished his work career at Crown Cork and Seal. He was an avid "tinkerer" with varied interests. Keeping his fleet of used mowers, chainsaws, tractors, and hay equipment was a full-time job. His crowning construction accomplishment was designing and building the log home that he, his wife Cindy, and family have enjoyed for the last 30-plus years. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. The gospel classic "The Lighthouse" and various "outlaw" country hits were at the top of his list. If he wasn't busy tinkering, you would find him sitting around a bonfire or on the front porch. His steadfast and dependable manner will be greatly missed.

Dana is survived by his wife, Cindy; sons, Nathan (Adrienne) Edwards of Logan, Joshua Edwards of Cheshire, and Jeremy (Melissa) Edwards of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, John (Amber) Edwards of Lancaster, Christina Edwards of Logan, Trisha Edwards (Scott) Pernell of Reynoldsburg, Hunter Edwards of Marks, Mississippi, Lydia Fry of Middleport, and Lane Edwards of Cheshire; great grandchildren, James Jeffers and Jayce Edwards; and brothers, Steve (Sharon) Edwards, Jim (Nancy) Edwards, and Mike (Linda) Edwards.

Dana was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Derrill Edwards; and various aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with his son, Jeremy officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

The family suggests donations to Good Works, PO Box 4, Athens, OH 45701 https://good-works.net/ or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 https://www.stjude.org/.

Dear Cindy, I was so sorry to hear about Dana. He was such a part of my child hood along with his brothers. How well I remember singing/ playing the piano at your wedding so long ago. So glad we know the ONE who holds it all in His hands and we know that He loves us through our pain and gives us peace.❤

You will be surely missed grandpa. Even though the time you had with your grandson was short we’ll ensure that he grows up knowing the kind of man you were. Thanks for everything you’ve ever done to help me and my family.

Dana and I went to high school, in Logan, together. We weren't close, but we did occasionally talk. I remember buying meat from the Rockbridge butcher shop when he worked there. He always treated me kindly and fairly. Even though I have not seen him for some time, I do feel a loss.
