Joy Rutherford

Joy Ann Rutherford, aged 78, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026 at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.

Born Aug. 1, 1947 in Logan, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Kenard and Bonna Elaine (Rieder) Rutherford.

Joy was a 1965 graduate of York High School in Buchtel, Ohio. She managed Chakeres Theater and Hocking Drive-In Theater in Logan for 22 years. Joy retired from Meijer in Lancaster, Ohio and worked at Dairy Queen and Walmart as a baker in Logan. She was a member of the Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, Psi Chapter and Card Club. Joy enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. Her unforgettable laugh and sense of humor will be missed by many.

Joy is survived by her sister, Ardeth E. Rutherford of Nelsonville and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph "Alan" Rutherford and Terry L. Rutherford and nephew, Derek Linton.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026 at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, officiated by Joshua N. Martin, following a memorial tribute by the Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, Psi Chapter at 6:45 p.m.

Visitation will be held from 5-6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
