Richard C. Jackson, age 80, of Sugar Grove, Ohio, passed away May 1, 2021 at Pickering House, Lancaster, Ohio.

Richard was born Jan. 21, 1941 in Sugar Grove, to Richard W. and Fannie Jackson. He retired from the Army after 25 years and then worked for Buckeye Steel for almost 15 years. While in the Army, Richard fought in the Vietnam War and earned a Silver Star Medal.

Surviving are his daughter, Regina (Elwood) Smith of Laurelville; son, Keith (Val) Jackson; daughter-in-law, Tracy Jackson; sister, Margie (John) Funk of Logan; sister-in-laws, Nancy Reynolds, Judy Ailes, and Susan Thornton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephew, and cousins.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jane Jackson; parents, Richard W. and Fannie Jackson; son, Kevin Jackson; brother, Bobbie Jackson; and stepmother, Gladys Jackson.

Calling hours will be observed from 4 p.m. to time of service.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 9 at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Rev. Diora Edgell officiating. Veteran Services will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio.
