ADELE "LILLEMOR" LIAN

Adele "Lillemor" Lian, a Scarsdale resident for 42 years, died of natural causes at age 93 on January 20, 2011 at her home. Lillemor was born March 11, 1917 in Ljan, Norway, and in April 1940 she left Norway for the US. She met Dr. Caspar A. Lian at a Norwegian military base in Nova Scotia and married him in 1943. After WWII, the Lians returned to Norway, but then emigrated to the US in 1951 and became US citizens, settling first in Brooklyn and then, in 1968, in Scarsdale. Lillemor included her family and friends in the things she enjoyed, such as traveling, being with her beloved dogs, and sharing her homes. She was a long-time member of the American Yacht Club in Rye. Lillemor is survived by her four children (and their spouses): Mette Eglinton of Kennebunkport, ME; Martin Lian of Beverly, MA; Anne Lian of Scarsdale, NY; and Nina Lian of Houston, TX, nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Dr. Lian predeceased Lillemor in October 1994. A celebration of Lillemor's life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church, 6 Greenacres Avenue, Scarsdale, NY. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Scoliosis Research Society.
