ANASTASIA HAMILTON Obituary

Anastasia V. Hamilton, daughter of the late James and Mary Pfeister Hamilton, died Thursday at the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center in Pomona, where she had resided for the last six years. Anastasia was born in Haverstraw, NY, on January 14, 1911 and attended St. Peter's Elementary School and graduated from the old Haverstraw High School. After graduation she worked for "Chubb & Son" Insurance Company in New York and was one of the first female underwriters of this period. Upon her retirement in 1973, she belonged to the 25th Century Club at Chubb & Son and will remain a posthumous member . Anastasia was predeceased by her two brothers, Reverend Joseph F. Hamilton and John J. Hamilton and her two sisters, Marie Hamilton Swartout and Margaret Hamilton Clark. She is survived by three nieces, Jo-Ann Swartout Thomas of Stony Point, Ann Hamilton Sulinski of Bloomsbury, NJ and Mary Clark Gow of Brooklyn, and three nephews, William Swartout of Beach Lake, PA, Robert Hamilton of New City and Douglas Hamilton of Haverstraw and many great-nephews and great nieces. Anastasia will be waked at Dutcher's Funeral Home, 18 Lincoln Street, Haverstraw on Friday and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with a funeral mass at St. Peter's in Haverstraw on Monday, April 1, at 10 am where she was a lifetime parishioner. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
