DR. ASHOK SONI

Dr. Ashok Soni, a prominent physician, specializing in womens' health, died on Thursday at Hudson Valley Hospital. He was 54 years old. Dr. Soni's practice was the Waterside Women's Medical Care in Putnam Valley. He was born in Nairobi, Kenya. He graduated from Makere Medical School in Uganda, Africa, in 1972. He came to the United States in 1976, where he did his internship at Mt. Vernon Hospital, and later his residency from 1977-1980. His affiliation with Hudson Valley Hospital began in 1981. He was married to Purmina Phadke. She survives and lives in Cortlandt Manor. He was a member of the American Board of OB/GYN, American College of OB/GYN, the Putnam County Medical Society, and the NY State Medical Society. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Prashant, of Cortlandt Manor, who is currently in residency at Westchester Medical Center. The funeral services were held Friday, under the direction of EDWARD F. CARTER, INC, FUNERAL HOME, in Montrose.
