BASIL B. "RED" EMERSON

July 21, 1915 to December 2, 2007 Basil B. "Red" Emerson died Sunday, December 2, 2007, after a brief hospitalization in Port Jervis. He was 92. He was born to Marcus and Lochie Pierce Emerson in Alfred Station, New York on July 21, 1915. He was the last surviving sibling of nine children. He graduated from Alfred University and earned his M.Ed. from Syracuse. He served in Europe as a member of the Army Medical Corps from 1943 to 1946. "Red" met and married his wife of more than 65 years, Nora Kathleen Caffrey, in Phoenix, New York. He was an educator and guidance counselor in Rockland County for 21 years. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Lochie Emerson Musso, two sons, John (Cathy) and B. David Emerson and four grandsons Kenneth (Katrina) and Jason Musso and Gregory and Donald Emerson. He is also survived by his step-granddaughter Karin Musso. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
