BENJAMIN STERN Obituary

Benjamin Stern, 85, a long time Dobbs Ferry resident died Saturday, September 18, 1999. Mr. Stern was born in the Bronx to Alexander and Gissella Grossman Stern. He was raised and educated in the Bronx and moved to Dobbs Ferry 45 years ago. He served in the Infantry Division of the United States Army in the 1930's and was later drafted in World War II. Mr. Stern was a butcher by trade and worked in the family business as well as other businesses in New York City. He retired at the age of 65 and then went to work at the Calvin Miller Insurance Agency in White Plains until he was 75. He was a member of B'Nai Brith, Knights of Pythias, Jewish War Veterans Post 191 White Plains and was an avid golfer and bowler. Mr. Stern is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte whom he married June 15, 1947. He is the loving father and father-in-law of Judith and Alan Levine and Neil L. Stern. Survivors also include one brother, Arthur, one sister, Helen Kasof and his devoted grandchildren, Dorian and Alexander. Funeral service Tuesday 11:00 am Cedar Park Cemetery, Westwood, NJ.
