Bradley Bolke

Dobbs Ferry - Bradley Bolke passed away on January 15, 2019. He was born in NYC to the late Sol and Helen F. Bolke. He graduated from A.B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon in 1943, where he was active in performing and varsity basketball and baseball. He graduated from NYU in 1945 at the age of 19, where he majored in radio. Bradley pursued a career in broadcasting and performing for the next 50 years. He performed in hundreds of TV and radio commercials and with his vocal versatility was the voice of many cartoon characters. Among his noted characters was the voice of Chumley the Walrus in Tennessee Tuxedo and Jangle Bell the Christmas Elf in The Year Without A Santa Claus. In recent years, he has been involved in local committees and local politics. He has been a Democratic district leader for almost 20 years. He is also the sponsor of the Bradley and Katherine C. Bolke Humor Award, which is bestowed upon a Dobbs Ferry High School graduating senior.

Bradley was predeceased by his beloved wife Katherine C. Bolke in 2013 and brother Dayton Bolke, known professionally as Dayton Allen, who was the cartoon voices of Deputy Dawg and Heckel and Jeckel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to The Actors Fund of America, 729 Seventh Avenue, 10th floor, NY, NY 10019 or The Dobbs Ferry Historical Society, 12 Elm St, Dobbs Ferry or The Dobbs Ferry High School Scholarship Fund, to perpetuate The Bradley and Katherine C. Memorial Humor Award, 505 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry.

Memorial Service will be held on Sat, Jan 26 at 11:30AM at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522.

"The deceased wants it known that if even one stinking petunia is placed by his bier he shall rise from the dead and smite the guilty party!!!"
