Casper Barnes Obituary
BARNES, CASPER L., SR. Casper L. Barnes, Sr. was born July 6, 1943 in Franklin, Virginia to Evangelist and Gracie Barnes. A longtime resident of Mount Vernon, New York, he passed into eternal life on August 26, 2005 at the age of 62. Casper received his formal education in Franklin, Virginia. He attended Hayden High School where he excelled as a halfback (No. 33) on the football team. He enjoyed music, one of his many hobbies in life. Casper later served his country in the United states Army. On June 23, 1973, Casper married Vivian E. Bennett. This union was blessed with two children. Affectionately called "Barnzie" by his family, "Cat or "Mr. B" by friends and lovingly referred to as "Pop-pop" by his grandchildren, Casper was employed as a bus driver for Westchester Street Transportation currently known as Liberty Lines, Inc. He later worked as a glazer for Artistic Glass Company and part-time in the circulation department of the Journal News in Mount Vernon, NY. Casper was called from labor to reward after a lengthy illness. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Vivian E. Barnes of Mount Vernon, NY; two loving children, Kenyatta (James) Knott and Casper L. Barnes II of Burlington, NJ; four doting grandchildren: Daquon "Duke Barnes, Jadden Knott, Ja-nia Knott and Dominque Barnes, all of Burlington, NJ; three devoted sisters: Mary (Maurice) McCoy of Mamaroneck, NY, Alma (Roy) Moseley of Franklin, VA and Barbara Melton of Richmond, VA; seven sisters-in-law: Laura Barnes, Beverly Williams, Johnnie McKnight, Nettie McClendon, Carolynn Houston, Betty Tucker and Pearl Bennett; seven brothers-in-law: James Bennett, Will (Alberta) Bennett, Michael (Odessa) Bennett, Harrison (Linda) Bennett, Howard McClendon, Wayne Melton and Alfa Houston and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He now joins his parents, his brothers, Evangelist Barnes, Jr. and Lawrence Barnes; sister, Beatrice Barnes-Harrison, sister-inlaw, Maxine Bennett and brother-in-law, Garland Tucker in eternal rest. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1 at CAMELOT FUNERAL HOME, INC. from 6 until 9 pm. Services be held Friday, September 2 at Calvary Baptist Church,188 Orawaupum Street, White Plains, NY. Viewing 12 pm until 1 pm. Funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Final services and interment will take place in Franklin Virginia Saturday, September 3.
