CHARLES OLIVIERI

Charles Olivieri, age 78, of Mahopac, died unexpectedly while vacationing in his birthplace of Corato, Italy on January 9, 2000. He was born on January 6, 1922 and was a US resident since 1954. He worked for the Putnam County Highway Dept. in Mahopac Falls from 1955 to his retirement in 1984. He owned his own landscaping business. Gardening was a hobby which he enjoyed immensely. He was a parishioner of St. John The Evangelist Church in Mahopac. He leaves behind his spouse of 52 years, Nina Cavuoto Olivieri of Mahopac, his daughters, Rosa Astorino of Mahopac and Pina Abbatiello of Hopewell Junction, and their spouses, Louis Astorino and Joe Abbatiello, six grandchildren, three sisters in both Corato and Bari, Italy and many nieces and nephews. His parents and two brothers predeceased him. The family chose to leave their loved one behind to be buried in his hometown with his family. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at 4pm at St. John The Evangelist Church. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
