DAVID SPECIAN Obituary

David Mark Specian, a longtime Peekskill resident, died on August 15, 2004 at 48 years old. He was born in Manville, NJ on February 25, 1956, the son of Alexander Charles and Margaret Shulak Specian. He attended and graduated from Manville schools, attended the University of Maryland, and graduated with a BS in management from Rider College, Lawrenceville, NJ. In both high school and college, Mr. Specian was an accomplished wrestler, who won medals and trophies and was inducted into the Region V Hall of Fame by the NJ Wrestling Coaches Association. On May 21, 1983, he married Doreen-Ann Pinckney at Church of the Assumption, Peekskill. She survives. Mr. Specian was employed as an area manager in retail sales for Kmart in Yorktown, NY for five years. He also held positions at Jamesway, Trader Horn and Caldor. Mr. Specian enjoyed attending wrestling matches at West Point, Somers High School, and in New York City. He liked hiking, bird watching, camping, and fishing with his daughter, Teresa. Mr. Specian was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Along with his wife, Doreen, he is survived by his daughter, Teresa-Ann Specian, both of Peekskill. Other survivors are his mother, Margaret Specian of Manville, NJ; sisters: Nancy Specian of Boulder, CO; Joan (Thomas) Kopsco of Washington, NJ; brothers: Alexander of Manville, NJ; Robert of Bound Brook, NJ; Daniel of Middlesex, NJ; mother-in-law, Barbara Pinckney and sister-in-law, Dawn Pinckney-Esterly, both of Peekskill and several cherished pet canines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 19, 2004, 11:15 am, at Assumption Church, Peekskill, followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor, NY. Visiting at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, Peekskill, on Wednesday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Donations may be made in Mr. Specian's memory to Assumption Church, 131 Union Avenue, Peekskill, NY 10566.
