DePONTO, DONATO "DANNY"Donato "Danny" DePonto, 76, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a resident of the Town of Beekman, previously of Cape Coral, FL and Yonkers. Born on July 18, 1928 in Yonkers, he was the son of Donato and Josephine Christiano DePonto. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Yonkers for 15 years. He attended St. Bartholomew's Church, was a district leader for the 7th Ward Democratic Party and was a member of the American Legion, Yonkers. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margaret Howley; his children, Daniel DePonto, Gail Beck and Diane Oringer; and seven grandchildren. Calling hours on Thursday from 1-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am at Blessed Kateri Church, Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
