Edward Elkin Obituary
Edward M. Elkin of White Plains, NY, formerly of Katonah and Hartsdale, died peacefully at home on March 14th. Born on March 26th, 1939, he was a son of the late Jules and Rose Greenbaum Elkin of Newburyport, MA. A graduate of Governor Dummer Academy, Harvard University and New York University School of Medicine, he was a pediatrician and public health physician with the New York State Department of Health until his retirement. He served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged at the rank of Lt. Commander. He was deeply committed to social justice and civic participation. He was the brother of Leah (Arthur) Shavit of Haifa, Israel and the late Paul Elkin. He is also survived by his daughter, Elena Elkin and his son, Joshua (Meryl) Elkin, and his grandchildren, Ezra and Ruby. Donations in his memory can be made to the Common Cause Educational Fund and the National Alliance for Mental Illness-NYC Metro.

Ed was my cousin and i loved him dearly he was a very special person . He always took up for me when he could . He taught me me a lot about being a better person I loved him like a brother may he rest in peace God Bless his family althought i only met his children as baby's. Love to you all Trudi Ozarin Westberry his mother and my mother were sisters

Roberta and I awoke this morning to get the sad news! Eddie was an usher at our wedding and although times changed he remained an important part of our history and our high regard. We hope to attend the funeral.
