Eileen Storey Obituary

Sister Eileen Storey, SC, dedicated Sister of Charity, died on December 7, 2005 at the Convent of Mary the Queen in Yonkers, NY. Daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Ellen Storey, she was born on April 7, 1925 in Wicklow, Ireland, and moved to New York City in 1928. Foundress of the Aletheia House of Prayer, she was active in the New York community. A scholar of languages and theology, she devoted her life to Peace. She studied and taught the religious beliefs of East and West and the major religions emerging from the Middle East. She traveled the world and carried with her the Bible, Koran, the Dhammapada, and the Bhagavagita, among others. Her hope was that through interfaith communication, peace could be won. She is survived by her brother, Patrick Storey of Haverford, Pennsylvania and his wife, Mary; her sister, Marie Storey of San Diego, California; her brother, Lawrence Storey, of San Diego, California and his wife Eileen; her cousin Nellie Heatly of County Wicklow, Ireland and her husband, Robert; and eight nieces and nephews and their children. The wake will be at the Convent of Mary the Queen in Yonkers on Sunday, December 11 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Mount St.Vincent in Riverdale on Monday, December 12 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yonkers.
