Elizabeth Power
New Rochelle - Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Power passed away peacefully on October 10, 2019 in New Rochelle, NY. Betty is survived by her sons Matt (of Westfield, NJ) and Jerry (of Pelham NY); her daughters in law, Alison and Kim; and her beloved grandchildren, Luke, Sara, Brian, Colleen and Grace. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her husband James Power and her twin sister Jacqueline Zimmermann. Betty's parents, Henry and Mary Zimmermann, both passed away when Betty was very young. That left Betty and Jackie as orphans who were raised by various family members.
Betty & Jackie were born in the Bronx in 1935, where they were raised. Betty attended St. Jean Baptiste High School. Later in life, Betty earned her college and graduate degrees from the College of New Rochelle. She was a member of the Larchmont Shore Club, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and playing tennis. Betty retired from the NYC school system in 2006 where she worked at IS 192 for twenty years as a special education teacher.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the Fox Funeral Home on Monday October 14, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Fox is located at 2080 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY.
A funeral mass will be held at the chapel at Salesian High School on Tuesday October 15 at 10:30 AM. Salesian is located at 148 Main Street, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Salesian High School in memory of Elizabeth Ann Power.
