EUGENE HEWITT Obituary

Eugene Hewitt of Garnerville died on October 20, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 67. Born on October 23, 1939 in Haverstraw to the late Frederick and Louise Frank Hewitt. Eugene grew up in Haverstraw and served his country proudly in the United States Navy as a Seabee from 1957-1960. On July 27, 1958 he married Elizabeth Kent in Sacred Heart Church in Port Jervis. He was a member of the Haverstraw Elks BPOE 877 and was the past Exalted Ruler from 1994-1995. He was an electrician for US Plastics retiring after 25 years of service and then went on to the North Rockland School District as an electrician retiring in 2001. Survivors include his wife of 49 years Elizabeth of Garnerville, children Eugene Thomas Hewitt Jr. and his wife Alicia of Blooming Grove, Karen Lynn Kirdahy of West Haverstraw, and Nancy Elizabeth Hewitt of Garnerville. Grandchildren Corey, Carlos, Kiah, Sarah, Calista, Eugene III, Daniel, Timothy and Elizabeth. His brothers Joseph Hewitt of West Haverstraw and John Hewitt of West Haverstraw. He was predeceased by his son Thomas Hewitt and his brothers Frederick and William Hewitt. Friends may call on Tuesday October 23, 2007 and Wednesday October 24, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home Haverstraw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 25, 2007 at 10am at St. PetersChurch Haverstraw, with burial to follow with military honors in St. Peters Cemetery.
