FRANCES BROOKS Obituary

Frances Brooks, born March 30, 1915 to Frank and Mary Taylor, passed on peacefully at her home on January 21, 2006, after a long illness. A longtime resident of Elmsford, and graduate of Alexander Hamilton, Frances enjoyed sewing, gardening, and traveling. She was extremely active in the community until her later years. While raising two sons, she served as a local Cub Scout leader, PTA leader, and volunteer in the Head Start program. She worked with the Civic League, an organization started by her father, and had the honor of being the first woman/minority elected to the Elmsford Public School Board. Known to many as "Ma Brooks", "Aunt Frances", and "Grandma" she always had a friendly smile and kind disposition for everyone. She was predeceased by her husband, William, her brothers, Frank and Joseph (Minnie) Taylor, and her brothers-in-law Bill Evans and Richard Fairfax, and sister-in-law, Virginia Taylor. She is survived by her sons and daughter-inlaws, James (Katherine) Brooks and Joseph (Debbie) Brooks, her brothers, Walter (Virginia) Taylor and Robert (Grace) Taylor, her sisters, Louise Fairfax, Theresa (Martin) Sanders, and Martha Evans, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her smile will be sorely missed. Thank you Lord for allowing us to enjoy her for so long. Visitation will be at McElroy-Flynn Funeral Home in Elmsford, on Wednesday, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Elmsford, on Thursday, at 10 AM. MCELROY-FLYNN FUNERAL HOME (914)592-6300 www.mcelroyflynnfuneral home.com
