GEORGE E. ARTIS Sr.

George E. Artis, Sr. died Monday, September 22, 2003 at Phelps Memorial Hospital. He was born April 8, 1936 in Ossining to the late Elliot B. and Julia Ann Wyche Artis. George graduated from Ossining School and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked at the Pleasantville Cottage School until retirement in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Joan Y. Eaddy Sharrock; five children: George, Jr. of Virginia; Bruce of Peekskill; Michael of Ossining; Bridget of Queens and Tanika of Mt. Vernon. Six grandchildren, four sisters: Mabel McNorton, Thelma and Minnie Artis of Ossining and Florence Artis of the Bronx; two aunts: Minine Askew and Arruth Artis and a host of relatives and friends. Family will receive friends Sunday, September 28, 2003 6-9 pm at the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, 304 Spring St., Ossining, NY. Funeral Services Monday at 1 pm at the church.
