I'm still totally devastated by the sudden loss of such a great man, words can't express how sorry I am for Phillis and the rest of his family and friends . I only knew Gerald for a short time but he left a lasting impression on me and we became quick buddies . My painting company has spent the last six weeks working on the exterior of his log cabin in upstate NY, we recently completed the first stage of the project while he was in Floridia and I was looking forward to seeing him when he returned last week . I actually spoke to him twice on the phone the day he died , during what turned out to be our last conversation we were joking around about him being late for our appointment because he was still at the beauty salon , I said "I hope you're waiting for your wife because if you're not you're gonna be there all day " he laughed hysterically and we agreed to meet Saturday morning, unfortunately that meeting never happened and that will haunt me for a long time, I will miss him and his great sense of humor and incredible personality . I'm honored to be able to call him my friend . RIP

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

Psalms 118:6, tells us that God is on our side, what could earthling men possibly do to us. How encouraging to know no matter what we go through, such as the death of a loved one, God is always with us.

Dear Phyllis and the Batti family,

Please accept our deepest condolences for the passing of our beloved Gerard. Although we've only known Phyllis and Gerard for a short time we recognized that they were soul mates. You knew by the way they looked and interacted with each other how deeply in love they were.

Gerard was a sincere and compassionate person who was all about family and friends. A man who was completely in love with Phyllis and with his family. He was a soft spoken, unassuming, yet charismatic gentle man. We are all better people for having known Gerard.

Rest in Peace Gerard and Godspeed.

Love,
