HAROLD STRAKER Obituary

Harold Terrence Straker (Terry), 52, of Bronx, New York, and formerly of Sparkill, New York, died November 15, 2000 at the Harlem Hospital Center in Manhattan. He was born in the Bronx to the late Annie Williams and Harry Straker on October 23, 1948. He was educated in the public schools of New York City and was employed by the Tri State H.P.D. for twenty seven years until he became self employed. He was a member of the St.. Charles African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Sparkill, New York, where he served as Class Leader, Chaplain of the Steward Board, Chaplain of the Sons of Varick, the Board of Evangelism, and Pastors Chief Aide. Terry is survived by his wife Gloria of thirty three years, son Derrick of Winston Salem, North Carolina, daughter Simone (Eric) Rios of the Bronx;four grandhcildren; his father Harry Straker; Bronx, New York; three brothers Vernon of Manhattan, Damon of Ohio and Ephram of New Jersey; two sisters Leslie and Katrina of the Bronx, a dear cousin Andrea Sturdivant of Sparkill; and a host of relatives and friends. Visiting hours will be held Sunday November 19th from 4-8 PM at the St. Charles A.M.E. Zion Church, 432 Valentine Avenue, Sparkill, New York. Funeral services will be conducted Monday November 20th at 11:00 Am by Pastor Louis E. Sanders at the St. Charles A.M.E. Zion Church. Interment at the Brick Church Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY. Donations may be made in Terry's memory to the St. Charles A.M.E. Zion Church Building Fund, 432 Valentine Avenue, P.O.Box 384, Sparkill, New York 10976.
