James W. Von Helms Sr.

Monsey - With deepest sorrow we announce that James (Jim) Von Helms, Sr. age 92 our most beloved husband, father, grandfather, family member and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on December 29, 2020.

Those who knew Jim, even just a little, lost a shinning light in their lives. He had an infectious laugh and a good sense of humor.

Jim worked for 46 years at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY starting with tending animals, processing penicillin, scheduling and supervising in pharmaceutical production from raw material to finished product and retired as Manager of Customer Service in 1991.

Even with a busy schedule he managed to obtain a A.A.S degree in Business Administration from Rockland Community College. Jim served honorably in the New Jersey National Guard.

He leaves behind his loving wife Maria of 42 years, his daughters Debra Von Helms (Bob), Judy Lucenta (William) and is preceded in death by his only son and namesake James W. Von Helms Jr. Adorned grandfather to William and James Lucenta.

Jim enjoyed bowling, swimming, Atlantic City and home repairs.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 6 - 8 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, NY. Final resting place Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack, NY on 4 January at 11:30.
