McFarlane, James "Archie"

James "Archie" McFarlane, 84, of West Haverstraw, NY, passed away on October 29, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on January 22, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY.

James was a Corporal in the Army and served in the Korean War. He moved to Rockland County in 1967 and worked as a customs broker in Manhattan. He enjoyed running, reading, dancing, completing the NY Times crossword (in ink!) and watching Jeopardy. He was the original Google, who everyone called to settle bets, to see how to spell a word, find out who the 11th Vice President was or how to cook a pot roast because he knew EVERYTHING.

James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine, his son Bruce, his daughter Faye, his brother Donald, his sisters Marion Buckley and Dorothy McKenna, his grandsons Anthony (Laura) and Gregory (Elizabeth) and his great-granddaughters Ella and Avery.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at T.J. McGowan in Garnerville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or United Hospice of Rockland.
