JOHN PALLADINO Obituary

John M. Palladino of Yorktown Heights, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, died on September 9, 2010. He was 91. Born in 1919 in N.Y.C. to Vito and Divina Maria Palladino. He graduated Far Rockaway High School in 1937. A graduate of McAllister School of Directors & Embalmers, a member of Funeral Directors Local 144, N.Y., he worked as Manager and Funeral Director for Forest Park Chapel in Forest Hills, N.Y. before retiring in 1978. He served in the army, 1942-45, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant as a surgical technician. He served in Ardennes, Central Europe, North France, Rhineland, Battle of the Bulge, and received the Bronze Star for his courage under fire while administering to a wounded comrade. In 1946 he married Lucy Caravella at Holy Rosary Church in N.Y.C. Locally, he was Board President of Jefferson Village Condo 8 for eight years, and a member for 22 years. He was a member of the Elks and the Holy Name Society at S.E.A.S. church. He is survived by Lucy, devoted wife of 64 years, Yorktown Heights, NY; Maria (Thomas) Gill, daughter, Yorktown Heights, NY; LucyJo (Arthur) Cormano, daughter, Encinitas, CA; Brian (Nina) Gill, grandchild, Seattle, WA; Elizabeth Gill, grandchild, NY, NY; Emily Gill, grandchild, Boulder, CO; Julia Cormano, grandchild, Santa Monica, CA; Jennifer Cormano, grandchild, Santa Monica, CA; Cooper Gill, great-grandchild, Seattle, WA.; and nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be offered on October 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak.
