DR. JOHN J. VESCE

VESCE, DR. JOHN J. Dr. John J. Vesce, age 96, of Peekskill, NY passed away peacefully, August 11, 2005. Dr. Vesce was a Physician in the general practice of medicine in Peekskill since 1948 and also attending physician at Peekskill Hospital. He retired from practice in 1984. He was born on November 26, 1908 in Philadelphia, PA to Frank and Pauline Struzzieri Vesce. Dr. Vesce attended Wagner College in Staten Island where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree and attended Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1941 where he received his Doctor of Medicine Degree. Internships were then served at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson, NJ, at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City and the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, NJ. Dr. Vesce was a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. In 1965 he was appointed to the Westchester County Board of Health where he served for 20 years. He was also a member of the American Medical Society, the Westchester County Medical Society and the New York State Medical Society. He was a Veteran of World War II having served over four years. He served two years overseas in the Midwest and Southwest Pacific and was attached to the 34th Infantry of the 24th Division attaining the rank of Major. Dr. Vesce was a member of the 3rd and 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of the Christopher Columbus Society of Peekskill. Dr. Vesce's wife Emilie, the former Emilie Alimonti died in 1977. He is survived by his four children Vincent C. (Patricia) Vesce of Peekskill, Paula (John) Pelaccio of Montrose, John J. Vesce, Jr. (Rona) Vesce of White Plains and Melissa (Charles) Cromeek of Chester. His grandchildren Vincent A. (Jolene) Vesce, Kimberly (Brian) Panzanaro, Andrea and John Pelaccio, Jessica and Andrew Cromeek and Jared (Amy) Sapirstein. Also survived by greatgrandchildren Gianna and Vincent J. Vesce, Emilie and Ava Panzanaro. He was predeceased by two brothers Vincent C. and Joseph Vesce and a sister Camille Vesce. Calling hours are Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass is Monday at 12 Noon at Assumption Church. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
