JOHN VIER Obituary

John Henry Vier of Stamford, CT, formerly of Rye, NY, died on Sunday, December 8th. Born in Bronxville, NY to John and Mary Hasey Vier on November 25, 1950, Mr. Vier graduated from Iona Prep. and Villanova University. He received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Iona College. Over the years he was employed by GTE in the Computer Services Department. Later he worked with Hipp Waters as a Technical Recruiter and EDP Contract Services as Accounts Manager. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as an officer of Council 451. Mr. Vier was an active community volunteer in many area organizations, such as Stamford Hospital. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Stamford, CT. An avid New York Giants and Yankees fan, he also enjoyed fishing on the Long Island Sound. Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters: Jacqueline Spang of Old Greenwich, CT, Valerie Kratky of Darien, CT, Hillary deVere of Chicago and one brother, Paul Vier of Ridgefield, CT. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Vier of Rye in 1986. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 11, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye on Thursday, December 12, at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902.
