Jose Cota Obituary
Jose Jorge "Joe" Cota, 56, a longtime resident of Nyack, NY passed away peacefully, early Monday morning at home surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Mazatlan, Mexico on October 31, 1956 to Mary M. Cota and Fernando G. Cota, both deceased.
Joe moved to Nyack in 1981 and fell so in love with its charm he raised his family there. He worked at Havermale's where he was a hardware manager who was more than happy to help everyone and anyone for 15 years. During his time in Nyack he was greatly involved in the community. He moved on to work at Homestead Hardware with the Mollicone family in Stony Point. He became a beloved staple of the community for 16 years. Patrons and clients alike will always remember to "listen to the Mexican".
His family meant so much to him. He is survived by his three children; Michelle, Christina and Joseph, as well as his son-in-law, Luis; his five sisters Freda, Christina, Josie, Genevieve and Magdalena and his granddaughter, Maya. He was beloved by many.
Special thanks to all of the staff at United Hospice of Rockland for their special care and keeping him comfortable and in good spirits during his journey.
Visiting will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 AM at St. Ann's RC Church in Nyack. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jose's memory to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Ln. New City, NY 10956.

Rest in peace Joe- will always remember going across the street to Havermales Hardware and asking you to find some ridiculous thing to fit in an odd place, and after a joke or two you would find it!Great humor. Dale Lydecker

Joe it's been a long time but I never forgot how you took me under your wing at Homestead. We had a lot of laughs there together. I remember you always getting us DR Pepper. Rest In Peace.

Uncle Joe, You were a very strong, talented, caring, generous Man. We will always remember the exciting times the whole family waited at the airport every year for you all to come visit us.
