I just today learned of this sad news. Joe was a good old friend to my husband John and myself for almost 70 years, since our newly wed days. My condolences to all of his family.

To family: we lived on the paper company farm, up the road, and Joe always treated us with respect.
My folks thought of Joe as good people' meaning a real, unphoney compassionate human being.
I'm sure with our passel of kids, he hid some of the exasperation that we must have caused the mill and your parents.

Pat, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Joe's kindness to our family when my dad (Larry "June" Bidwell) died.

To his lovely wife, Pat, his family and all who knew him, my very sincere condolences. I was fortunate to have known Joe through the master gardener program. His kindness and tireless commitment to the efforts he believed in was beyond incredible. Always warm, always humble and always enjoyed a hug or two!

Although I never met him, I heard so much about Joe during my 23 years with Riegel Paper(later Fibermark). I worked for Ken Blessing at the Hughesville mill, who spoke highly of Joe as did Robert Lehr and Harvey Fleming and many others. I am sorry for your loss, may God bless you always!
