Lola Geiger Obituary
Rye - Geiger, Lola, in Rye, New York on January 7, 2020 in her 98th year. Devoted wife of the late Philip, adored mother of Lawrence (Amy), Martin (Carin), James (Marilyn) and Ricki (Judi). Loving grandmother of Margaret (Hugh), Andrew (Jamie), Caroline, Pamela (John), Philip (Laura), and Francesca (Robert), and dear great-grandmother of Alexa, Dylan, Evan, Max, Brody, Cameron, Teddy and Lola.
A long-time resident of Harrison, New York, Lola was an exceptional athlete who loved tennis and playing ball.
Lola dedicated her life to enriching communities and supporting and inspiring others. In the 1950's, she along with her husband Philip Geiger and others, founded the Harrison Little League and the Jewish Community Center of Harrison. She was Chairman of the Harrison High School Feeley Scholarship Fund for over 40 years and Vice-President of the United Way of Harrison for over 20 years.
She was a co-founder and President Emeritus of The Harrison Children's Center, and former President of the Friends of the Harrison Public Library and of the Harrison Chapter of The League of Women Voters.
Lola especially valued encouraging and motivating young people during the 15 years she served as a youth employment counselor for the Harrison Youth Council. She was a member of the Interfaith Congregational Layman's Committee of Harrison for 25 years and was elected to the Westchester County Senior Hall of Fame in 2003.
Aside from her beloved family and friends, she leaves a legacy of decades of volunteer service to the Harrison community that she cherished. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring. Those inclined are kindly requested to consider donations in her memory to The Harrison Children's Center, 300 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, NY 10528, and the Harrison Public Library Foundation, 2 Bruce Avenue, Harrison, NY 10528.
Blessed with good health for over 97 years, Lola lived a long and productive life and left this world a better place.
