Marianne Pugni Obituary
Marianne (nee O'Brien) Pugni, of Somers, NY, passed away after a quick and fierce battle with multiple cancers on November 17, 2016, at the age of 61. Marianne was born on April 25, 1955 to Sue Ann E. and Daniel J. O'Brien in Mt. Vernon, NY and was a proud Republican, and Westchester County resident for her entire life. Marianne was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald J. Pugni, Jr. in 1998 and her cherished mother Sue Ann E. O'Brien in 2010. "Mar" is survived by her deeply loved father Daniel J. O'Brien of Heritage Hills, Somers, NY; sister Marita O'Brien, and her treasured brother Daniel J. O'Brien, Jr. (Teresa) of Silverthorne, CO. Also surviving are her dear nephews and nieces: Peter E. and Rebecca S. Wilhelm and their beautiful children Gavin J. and Carmen L. of New Milford, CT, Matthew C. O'Brien of Denver, CO and Griffin J. O'Brien of Littleton, CO.
Mar was a lifelong, diehard NY Giants fan who was also very passionate in competitive yacht racing and sailing competitions traversing the Eastern Seaboard for over 40 years. Mar was a lifelong volunteer with many charitable organizations throughout the area, focusing her particular attention to assisting in the life altering planning changes required to successfully transition spinal cord patients from rehabilitation centers to the comfort of their own homes. She tirelessly ran weekly evening meetings with family members to provide additional hands-on knowledge of the necessary skills required.
We know that our Mar will be always remembered for her devotion to her family and how she so loved and treasured her true friends. Nonetheless, we know that she also would want to be remembered primarily as a loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt. In lieu of flowers, Mar has requested donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association of Westchester, 2900 Westchester Ave., Suite 306, Purchase, NY 10577 in Sue Ann O'Brien's memory; The Human Fund, or to The American Cancer Society. Per Marianne's request, there will be no visitation services. A Celebration of Mar's Life and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at St. Joseph's Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY at 11:30 a.m.

Dearest Uncle Dan, Dan & Marita,
Heavens gates have opened and received our sweet angel Marianne. Welcoming her with open arms were those who have gone before us. She will be sadly missed by so many that loved her dearly. Prayers are with all of you at this most difficult time.

Dear Pop and Dan,
Mar never failed to tell us how much she loved us all. I think I will miss that the most. To use one of her favorite expressions " she was a pistol."Thank you for taking such wonderful care of her the last few months. Its a sad time.
