MARTIN WALSH Obituary

Martin Walsh, age 82, of Cortlandt Manor passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, February 25, 2008. Mr. Walsh was born in County Mayo, Ireland on January 5, 1926 to Thomas and Margaret Walsh. He immigrated to the United States in 1948, settling in Peekskill, and served in the US Army from 1948 - 1951. Mr. Walsh married Patricia La Due of Peekskill on September 30, 1961 at the Church of the Assumption. He was the owner/manager of Blue Mountain Inn in Peekskill. Mr. Walsh's favorite pastime was spending time with his family, all of whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren, listening to Irish and country music, and was an avid baseball fan. Mr. Walsh was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia, and loving children, Margaret (Goher), Martin, Jr. (Jean), Kevin, Robert (Sandy), and grandchildren Lance, Josh, and Jillian. Brother Patrick of California, sisters Mary, Tess, and Rita of Ireland, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mr. Walsh was predeceased by brothers Thomas and Sean of Ireland. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, February 29 at Dorsey -Carlone Funeral Home, Peekskill, followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor. Visiting at the funeral home on Thursday, 2 -4 and 7 -9 pm. Donations in Mr. Walsh's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and/or the Mohegan Fire Dept.
