MICHAEL LORENZO Obituary

Michael A. Lorenzo (YPD) of Yonkers died on Tuesday April 15, 2008 at age 75. Born on December 13, 1932 to Michael G. and Ruth (Guerin) Lorenzo in Queens. He attended St. Joseph Grade School, Gorton High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Iona College. Mr. Lorenzo was a police officer for the City of Yonkers for over thirty five years, retiring in 1995 as Detective 1st Grade. On May 18, 1963, he married Joan McMorrow in the Bronx. Michael was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Tower Ridge Yacht Club in Hastings, an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating and a former member of Columbian Association. He proudly served his country as a Korean War Veteran serving in the Navy. He was also a member of War Vets Chapter #91 in Yonkers. Mr. Lorenzo is survived by his three children, Elizabeth (Bobby) Hargraves of Poughkeepsie, Michael J. (YPD)(Ana) of Yonkers and Maureen (Del) Caraballo of Yonkers. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Ashley, Connie, Christina, Vanessa, Grace, Tyler, Michael Jr., Justin and Chloe, his brother, Leo A. Lorenzo of Texas and his sister, Marie (Carmine) Forlenza of Yonkers. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 2-4 & 6-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church on Friday April 18th at 9:30 AM. Committal service at Ferncliff Chapel. Donations may be made to the Veterans Post of your choice in Mike's memory.
